NEWS FOR LIMA CITY RESIDENTS

Allied Waste Services is pleased to now serve Lima city residents. Our current refuse, recycling, and yard waste removal contract with the city began December 1, 2009, and is for the next five years. So that Lima residents are comfortable with their new service, here are a few items to know:

* No materials or containers shall be placed at the curb for pickup prior to 6:00 pm on the day before the    scheduled pickup and shall be removed from the curb no later than 6:00 pm the day after pickup
* Containers are not to be placed in the street and should be at least 3 feet apart for pickup by automatic equipment
* Garbage and recycling containers are provided to city residents for free. Contact the City Director of Utilities Office Customer Service Center at 419-221-5252 for more information
* All household refuse must be bagged and placed in the containers
* Extra material beyond capacity of the city-issued container can be placed in another can for pickup
* Free yard waste containers can be purchased by contacting 419-221-5252
* Information on delivering waste to the local transfer station at 1555 Buckeye Road can be obtained by contacting 419-222-5252. Information on recycling can also be found by calling this number
*If your refuse or recycling containers are missed on your scheduled pickup day, contact Allied Waste Services at 1-800-491-1115
* For disposal of hazardous waste, contact the North Central Ohio Solid Waste District at 419-228-8278

ALLIED WASTE SPECIAL SERVICES CRITERIA:

Allied will come from the street to your home/garage and pickup your containers at no extra charge if you meet the following criteria:

* Your container must be easily obtainable and cannot be in your garage, on your porch, or behind any sort of fence
* This pickup is restricted to one trash container and one recycling container.
* Only material in the city provided container will be emptied
* Any other material, including yard waste, must be placed at the curb

To receive this special service, you must be:

* 65 years old or older
* If younger than 65 but with a physical condition that prevents placing your containers at the curb, a written statement from your doctor must be provided to the City of Lima’s Director of Utilities Office
* All yard waste must be placed at the curb
* Tree limbs under two inches in diameter and no longer than four feet must be bundled, tied, and placed at the curb
