Apollo Built Home Goes Up For Sale - 5/1/2009

Apollo Career Center Carpentry, Construction Equipment Operations, Landscaping and Floral Design/Interiors classes are putting the finishing touches on Apollo's student-built house.

Open Houses will be held May 3 and May 10, 1-3 p.m. The house is a 1700 square foot brick and vinyl ranch and is located on a wooded lot in Cridersville at 849 Hasting Avenue. The interior includes three bedrooms, two full baths, Granite countertops and custom cabinets. It will be offered at public auction Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 7 p.m.

In past years, plans were submitted to Apollo by interested parties, and a house was chosen on the basis of location, and how the plans matched with student skills. Over the past several years, Apollo has purchased the lot and built the house on speculation. Students are able to frame, roof, paint interior walls, stain inside trim and doors, build cabinetry, lay brick and tile, and pour concrete. Landscaping students used CAD to design the exterior layout and the yard will be planted soon.

For more information, or to set up an on-site interview with Apollo instructors please contact Dana Dukes-Norton at 419.235.3052.For more information about the house, or to schedule a private showing, contact Auctioneer/Realtor Duane Ridenour, Yocum Realty at 419.222.3040.
