For Many Voters The Election Is Already Underway - 11/2/2009
The polls for the general election don't officially open for business until 6:30 Tuesday morning, but for many voters the election is already underway. Thousands of ballots have already been cast. The Allen County board of elections has already seen nearly 4-thousand absentee ballots cast. that is more than the previous off-year election in 2007. Board of elections director Keith Cuningham says that is a trend that seems to have taken hold. Cunningham says the equipment has tested fine, has been picked up or dropped off to polling sites. He expects about a 35 percent turnout of registered Allen County voters or about 25 thousand ballots cast. Also a last reminder for some Shawnee and Fort Shawnee voters. The Shawnee Township Road department garage is no longer a polling site. Those precincts are now as follows, Shawnee 'k' and 'c' will be at the Gardendale Church of god on Spencerville Road. Shawnee 'g' and 'h' at Shawnee United Methodist Church at Shawnee and Zurmehly Roads, and Fort Shawnee 'b' is at the Apollo Career Center. For complete election coverage and results tune in throughout Tuesday night to your hometown stations.
