Gaming Alive And Well in Lima Pending Court Ruling - 1/28/2010
The State Supreme Court has not made a ruling and until it does, games such as tic-tac-fruit will be played. Former Lima councilman Ray Magnus has opened up 'Lucky Spot Gaming' on North Main street in Lima near Northland. He has a neighbor two doors down, 'Wizard of Odds' that has more than 20 machines, Magnus has 13. The argument that needs settled is, are these games of chance or games of skill. Until notified otherwise, Magnus says they are games of skill.
The machines actually say they are house bill 177 compliant. There is no money payout. You accumulate points to win prizes. The more points, the bigger the prize. We asked Magnus about opposing the Eastern Shawnee Casino in Lima, then he opens a gaming business. Magnus says these machines can be found in restaurants and bars all over town. He is open 7 days a week beginning at 10am each day.
