An Accident Sunday Night Claims The Life Of A Security Guard - 7/26/2010

 

An accident on Sunday night has claimed the life of a security guard at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center. Paramedics from the Shawnee Township Fire Department responded to the facility at about 8:45 last night. Plant Manager Keith Deters, in a written release stated that 30 year old Patrick Soukavanh of Lima was on patrol in a motorized safety cart when he apparently lost control overturning the cart. The accident happened between two buildings, a supervisor located Soukavanh. He was riding by himself. He was taken to St. Rita's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Soukavanh had been employed for about a month by Guardmark, the security firm that handles security, fire and safety services at the J.S.M.C. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Deters says the Occupational Safety and Heatlh Administration or OSHA will conduct a workplace investigation. The investigation into the accident is being handled by the Department of Defense Police which have jurisdiction on federal property.
