BGSU's Barnes named MAC Player of the Week
The Mid-American Conference office has just announced this week’s player honors, with Freddie Barnes coming away with the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Falcons upend Troy 31-14 on Thursday night.

Barnes, a native of Chicago Heights, Ill., established a school record 15 catches for 157 yards and two scores in the Falcons’ 31-14 win over Troy to begin 2009. The 15 receptions were also a new Doyt Perry Stadium record and ranked eighth all-time in MAC history for catches in a game. Barnes’ two scores also matched a career-best, set in 2007 versus Temple and Boston College.

The fifth-year senior had six catches in the first quarter and went into half time with 11 catches and 123 yards and the Falcons’ lone touchdown.

Barnes now has 157 career receptions, ranking eighth all-time in BGSU history.

The Falcons travel to Missouri on Saturday.
