ONU Football splashes in to D3 Top Ten
ADA — After its impressive 28-19 season-opening victory over No. 4-ranked North Central (Ill.), the Ohio Northern football team debuted in the D3Football.com national poll at No. 9.

The Polar Bears (1-0) have now appeared in the D3Football.com poll in six consecutive seasons.

Northern received 340 points after not receiving votes in the preseason poll.

Leading the way and earning 23 of the 25 first-place votes is defending national champion Mount Union with 623 points.

The Polar Bears will play host to the top-ranked Purple Raiders in their next contest Sept. 19 at 1:30 pm at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

Wisconsin-Whitewater is second with 602 points and two first place votes, Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) is third with 572 points, Hardin Simmons (Tex.) is fourth with 515 points and Wheaton (Ill.) is fifth with 506 points.

Northern, which has won three consecutive and six of its last seven games dating to last season, will also face No. 21 Otterbein in Westerville on Sept.26.
