Good morning West Central Ohio! I come to the Buckeye
State from Madison, WI where I received my degree in
Meteorology at the University of Wisconsin. Spending
a good part of my life in Wisconsin does mean that
I’m used to cold and snow, but doesn’t mean that I
like it. Summer is by far my favorite season! I met
my wife Alex while attending UW, and we’re definitely
die-hard Badgers fans. There are two things that no
amount of money could make me do:
1. Root for
Michigan 2. Root for Ohio State. Sorry, Buckeye
fans… hopefully we can still be friends!
Prior to college, I went to high school in
Brookfield, WI… a suberb of Milwaukee. There, I
played the drums in pep-band, played football, and
was an all-state wrestler. High School was also when
I started working in kitchens, and taking cooking
seriously. I’ve worked under many chefs over the
last 5-10 years, so cooking exciting dishes on
Tuesday mornings with Chef Carrie Hamilton is just
another day in the office for me!
Going to bed at 7pm and waking up at 2:30am really
flips your life upside down… saying goodbye to
prime-time TV and night activities hasn’t been the
easiest, but I really do love my job, and that makes
it all worth-wile. I get to work with Lindsay and
Ashley, two lively anchors who help keep me awake in
the morning. I’ve gotten somewhat used to the crazy
hours of this shift… although I still do want to
throw my alarm clock out the window every morning
when it goes off!
I try to spend as much time with my wife as I can
during the short window of time that we see each
other at night. I have plenty of free time while
she’s at work, and I have lots of hobbies to keep me
busy. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of video games
on my new Xbox 360… Apart from that, I try to work
out as much as possible and keep my house clean (yes,
I am a huge neat freak).
My goal is to make sure that you know EXACTLY what is
going to happen with the weather throughout the day
when you head off to work or school, and if you have
any ideas on how I could improve my show to cater it
more effectively towards the viewer, let me know. I
enjoy being involved in the community, and I’m always
looking to talk to kids at the schools around the
region. Just contact me if you’d like to set
something up.
If you have any comments for me, or if you just want
to say hi, ask me a weather question, random
question, or even just tell me a joke, PLEASE feel
free to shoot me an e-mail anytime at asarsalari@wlio.com. I promise that I’ll get back to you!
