Hi Lima! I’m very excited to continue my
meteorology career here in Northwest Ohio. After graduating from the
University of Wisconsin – Madison. (Yes, I am a badger!) I
returned to the Minneapolis, MN area where I grew up and started my career as a
broadcast meteorologist for several radio stations across the Midwest. My
ultimate dream was always to work for a television station and it’s now
coming true here in Lima!
I’ve always been interested in weather, back to the
days of watching thunderstorms develop in my Minnesotan back yard with my family.
To tell you the truth, storms and severe weather has always been a little scary
to me. Because of that, I like to know as much as I can about what is
going on. I feel like when I have all the information in front of me, I
am prepared to deal with whatever mother nature throws my way.
My second appreciation for weather systems both pleasant and
stormy came when I was learning to be a private pilot during one of my college
summers. Again, really digging into the information to understand how the
atmosphere works makes me feel prepared and at ease. In my spare time I
like to garden. You’ll find flowers, vegetables and herbs growing around
my house in the summertime. I am also a big fan of cooking and trying new
recipes. Nothing is more satisfying to me than creating a healthy meal using
vegetables and herbs grown in my own back yard.
I couldn’t be happier to be here in Ohio. I’m
looking forward to meeting new people from all around the community, taste
testing the local flavor of great restaurants and growing in my career.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Don’t hesitate to send me an email at lbetker@wlio.com.
